There is now occurring one of the most widespread visitations of foot and mouth disease for many years. Over one hundred cases have been reported from various counties, including Cumberland, Durham, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Yorkshire and Cheshire. The Ministry of Agriculture has stopped the movement of cattle in eleven counties.
