STROKE-HAULING.
(Per Press Association.' ASHBURTON, Last Night. The police report that a successful raid was made upon, stroke-haulers fishing at the Rangitata river mouth on Saturday night. Three local anglers are alleged to have been caught red-handed with illegal tackle, one being apprehended after an exciting chase, with a live eel suspended frorp his rod. A prosecution will probably follow. The practice of stroke-haul-ing has been growing at an alarming rate, according to reports, throughout the Dominion, to the great injury to fishing and the sport of legitimate anglers.
