A BIG' CLAIM
AGAINST GRANITE COMPANY. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day Frank Harris, a sculptor and stonemason, of Auckland, sought to recover £16,000 from the directors of the Coromandel Granite Company for alleged breach of agreement. It was stated that a company had been formed to exploit a certain granite quarry at Coromandel, and that plaintiff was engaged as manager and organiser, and was to receive one-fifth share in the new company. Plaintiff claimed that he carried out his duties in a thorough manner, but alleged defects had belittled his ability in his official capacity\anfl placed him in a false position. He had no alternative but to resign. He claimed £12,000 as his share of the company, £IOOO for the trouble and expense he had been put to, £2OOO lost profits, and £IOOO general damages. The defence was a denial of the allegations, and that the plaintiff was not entitled to the share claimed. They did not place the same construction on the agreement. The case is proceeding.
