Mr David Charles Hitchman, a well-known citizen of Napier, died at his residence on Wednesday as a result of poisoning; Mr H. J. Canton was elected a vicepresident of the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club at last night's meeting of the committee, \ His Honour, Mr Justice Reed, having completed the Supreme Court sessions at Palmerston North, left yesterday for Wanganui accompanied by his associate, Mr A. Hamilton. Mr Frank Speddlng, editor of the, Glasgow "Daily Record," and Mrs Spedding, have arrived In Adelaide, and intend making an extensive tour through the Australian States and New Zealand. The death occurred on Tuesday ofMr Wilfred Burt Aston, a member of the firm of Gillies, Ferguson and Aston, solicitors, of Hamilton. The deceased, who was a, son of the Goveminent Analyst, was 35 years of age, Mr Angus, assistant locomotive engineer, Auckland, is being promoted, to the West Coast as locomotive engineer on the Westland section of railways, vice Mr J. F. Mackley, transferred to Auckland as locomotive engineer. Mr W. Corin, chief electrical engineer to the New South Wales Government, who is visiting New Zealand, has been shown ov%r the Lake Monowal scheme. Before returning to Australia, he will also inspect the Lake Coleridge plant. Mr A. W. Parker, of Birkdale, la leaving In a few days for an extended trip to England. Mr Parker .is one of the directors of the Auckland Egg Society, and while at Home will study the conditions of the egg market with the object of arranging for an export trade from New Zealand, American Hats for men, as featured and popularised in the movies and magazines from the land Columbus found.
