The Masterton Racing Club's meeting takes place on Friday and Saturday of next week.

It is expected that Eurytltmic and Tangalooma will measure strides again in the Caulfield Stakes on tho opening day of the V.A.T.C. meeting-. Twelve month ago the pair ran first and second in that event, Eurythmlc winning easily.

Flight Commander is reported to be training on well at Trentham, but he is considered an unlikely starter in the New Zealand Cup.

Alan McDonald, the Marton sports, man, has already ridden nine winners this season.

Admiral Codrington was paying a Gloaming price when he ran second to Hyginas at Hastings this week. Hyginas returned a dividend of well over a score.

Several Manawatu horses will be competing at the Masterton meeting next week.

Rekanui, who broke down at the conclusion of the Marton meeting, is not to be persevered with, but is to be sent to Hymestra.

Gladful, who won the Grand National Hurdle Race, will be taken up shortly in view of the late summer and autumn meetings.

The sister to Mermin in P. E. Hazleman's stable at Tauherenikau is to make her first appearance with the colours up at the Masterton meeting next week, and will race as Zareba.

F. T>. Jones will take a team of five or six to the Dunedin meeting, including Amythas and Mustard Pot. On the conclusion of the southern fixture he will go on to Wellington.

Mr E J Watt evidently possesses a particularly smart filly in Lady Aura, who accounted for a big field in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick yesterday. She was purchased as a yearling by Mr Watt for 500gns., and on the dam's side comes from the same family as Desert Gold,

On the ground of "dishonourable action," the Victorian jockey H. Bird has been disqualified for five years. The case arose at Aspendale Park, when Bird's riding of the favourite. Libanus, in the Jumpers' Flat Race was called into question. The owner and trainer were exonerated from blame bv the stewards who decided the case. It was proved by evidence that the owner and connections of the stable had backed Libanus to win a. good stake. The jockey has appealed against the sentence imposed on him, and some developments may be expected.
