NURSING GUILD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting' of the Palmerston North District Nursing Guild was held yesterday. Present: Mr J. A. McLeavey (chairman) and Mesdames Aitcheson, L. A. Abraham, Hewitt, Gill, Cole and Morgan. A letter was received from the Manawatu Hockey Association asking if the guild could arrange for the district nurse to be in attendance at the Sportsground for the forthcoming NeAV Zealand ladies' championship tournament. It was decided to permit the nurse to attend the matches during the afternoons, unless' any emergency cases required attendance in which case endeavours would be made by the secretary to have a substitute in attendance. The district nurse (Sister McLean) reported that during August she had visited 22 patients and had made 134 visits altogether. There had been 20 new cases during the month. Nine families had been helped with clothing, and work had been obtained for two women. Donations of clothing had been received from the following: Mesdames Anderson, Ashcroft, Black. Christie, F. Cook, McGill, P. A. McHardy, Mc£ullough, Hodder, Gillies. Leary, Smith, Innes, Scott and Warren; meat from Kairanga Auction Mart, and a cot from Mrs Livingstone. The Plunket nurse (Sister M. E. Bosher) reported that there had been 136 adult visitors to the office durinp August, and 130 babies. Twenty-four visits had been paid to homes and there had been eight new cases. The Wanganui Karitane Hospital would glad of a donation. There had been six Palmerston North babies in the hospital from time to time. Nurse Bosher wrote resigning from the position of Plunket nurse and thanking the menrbers for the assistunco given her in her work. —It was decided to hold a social function in the Ambulance Hall on Saturday, the 17th hist., for the purpose of sayinp: farewell to Nurse Bosher and extending a'welcome to her successor, Nurse Kidd. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to the secretary (Mrs Aitcheson) for paying for car hire for the Plunket nurse when visiting in Palmerston North.

The following donations for the dis.. trict.nurse funds were received, with thanks: —Mrs Funston £2, Mrs S. J. Watson £2 2/, Mrs Strahan £l, Mrs Sinclair £1 10/, Mrs North 10/. Mrs 3 Wylde £1 5/, Miss Gaustad £l, Mr J. R. Wood 14/3. Annual subscriptions amounting to £24 were also received.
