Referring to the advice given by Mr Maofarlane, at the annual meeting of the Eivorbank Dairy Company, that farmers should "try to be Scotch for one year," the Christchurch "Press" says:—"Scots will, probably, as the speaker's name was Maofarlane, not resent this repetition of the mistaken belief that all Scotchmen are 'saving' —happily, a large proportion of the race is sufficiently thrifty to give point to the advice, which may bo commended at the present time, not alone to dairy fanners, but to all classes of the community, of whatever race they may be."
