GIRL KILLED.
BY NEGLIGENT TAXI DRIVER. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The inquest on Kathleen Archer, aged twelve, who died* from injuries received by being knocked down by a taxi, driven by Archibald Lloyd, on August 13th, was concluded before Mr McCarthy, coroner. The girl had alighted from a tram, and was standing waiting for her mother to come round the end of the car, when she was run down. The coroner found that death was due to various injuries; also that Lloyd's driving was negligent in three particulars: (1) he was approaching at a high rate of speed the intersections, and the tramcar which had stopped to allow passengers to hoard and alight; (2)* he. was not keeping a vigilant look-out; (3) he was under the influence of alcohol, and it was this negligent driving which had caused deceased's death.
