ARMAMENT CONFERENCE.
CHINA WANTS OPEN DOOR. I [By Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday, 8.20 p.m.) PEKIN, September 5. The Chief Secretary, Tyau. Chinese delegate to the Armament Conference, has stated that China would welcome the utmost publicity regarding the discussions, since there was nothing she desired to conceal. "China will advocate the open door in the true sense of the terms, that is* opened from within. China, by her sphere of influence and special privileges would always be stumbling blocks to the peace of the Far East. China hoped that the conference would remove such stumbling blocks. There will never be peace for the Far East so long as China holds a .position inferior to any other nation in the world. China will strive for the adoption of broad principles at the conference, conducive to peace in the Pacific, and will be prepared to lay her case before that body, should the existing conditions prevent the application of such principles."
