WESTERN ENGINEERS .MAINTAIN LEAD Although there was a general rearranging of the carnival emblems yesterday, the Western Engineers maintain the premier position, and (ho Eastern Ditchers remain at . the bottom of the list of pennants. The following are the positions of the various candidates; —Western Engineers, Northern Trenchers, Manawatu Spademen, Pohangina Sappers, Kairanga Diggers, Feilding Tunnellers, Horowhenua Miners, Oroua Dclvcrs, Southern I'ickmcn, Eastern Ditchers.

The St. Helen’s Fair Committee met yesterday. It. was decided to charge lid admission at night, but holders of reveille tickets to be admitted free. The stalls have boon allocated as follows: No. 1, moat market; No. f., Kairanga Diggers; No. 3, Southern Pickmen; No. 4, Manawatu Spademen; No. 5, Northern Trenchers; No. 6, Western Engineers; No. 7, Eastern Ditchers.
