ILLNESSES WHICH DO NOT SPAKE PHYSICIANS.
Do doctors, who possess cures for all the ills to which flesh is heir, themselves escape from these diseases ?
This question is answered by the -Journal of .the American Aledical Association,” which gives a remarkable set of figures for the Near 192(1. Doctors to the number of 2272 died in fhc Cnilcd States and Canada last year, and ihc principal assigned causes of death- from disease and their frequency were:—-Organis heart disease 23G, cerebral hemorrhage 214, pneumonia 18G, nephritis and uraemia 14 2. cancer 91, tuberculosis 59, angina pectoris 50. pneumonia-influenza 37, arteriosclerosis 33, myocarditis 34^
septicaemia 31, influenza 29, diabetclj 2S, meningitis 17, cirrhosis of the liver and acute dilation of the heart, each IC. endocarditis and anemia each 15. peritonitis 12, appendicitis and gastritis each 11. Nervous diseases generally accounted for 27 1 deaths, accidents lor 102, sequels to surgical operations for 74, suicide for 32, and homicide for 14.
The figures show that the mostcritical years for doctors and others who know how to take care of themselves are C 3 and G 4. at each of those ages 05 deaths being noted. No fewer <iiap 19 were between 91 and K*o \cars old when they died.
