BURNT TO DEATH.
TAUMARUN.UI, May 5. A shocking tragedy occurred shortly- before midnight on Wednesday, by which Walter Burgolte, of Auckland, and Darcy R. Hunter, of Nelson, were burned 'to death in a three-roomed whare at Okahukura. The whare was occupied by three men engaged on a fencing contract. The third occupant, a brother of the deceased Hunter, found the whare ablaze and tried to get his brother out, but- he had to abandon his task. It is surmised that both the deceased were suffocated by smoke before being burnt. It is thought that a spark or* a log fell out of the fireplace, the fire having been built up by the men prior to going to bed.
