Jersey weaner heifers was the only class for which there was any marked demand, and these brought full values for their quality. Store pigs 10/, now £3; fresh conditioned cows £l/14, £2/1; weaner steers 10/, 2-yr old do., 2/; weaner heifers 19/, 21/; Jersey do., f 2/6, £2/13, £4/5; small in caif heifers £3/5; springing heifers £7/10; heifer in milk £11; dairy cows £7/5, £l2; bulls £3; vealers £2/5. On Wednesday 27th ulto. we conducted a clearing sale at Tataraimaka on gecount of Mr H. Lett. Taking into account the very unsettled state of things generally and the. low prices ruling in all branches of the stock rnarketl the sale was an excellent one throughout. Sundries, implements, horses, etc., maintained values easily on a tfar with last season's prices, the cattle, however, were not so keenly sought after, as prices indicate, but they afforded fair competition nevertheless, and had the season been further advancsd would no doubt have sold better. Stock quotations as follows:—Cows £lO to £l3; light unbroken horses ranging from 3 to 5 years £l2 to £18; aged mare £lO/10; baconers £4/15; small lambs 5/3. At Westown on the following day we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr H. J. Major, at which buyers attended in big numbers, and we report a bright sale throughout. The herd of 22 cows averaged £l3 the best selling from £l3 to £l7. Other quotations: Jersey weaner heifers £2/0.3, Jersey bull £5; 2-yr steers £2/15; mare and foal £26; light, harness horses £9/|O, £l4/10; hack £6/10.
