A CORRECTION.

In an editorial in yesterday's issuo it was argued that Cabinet had projudged a verdict of the Appeal Cours, and had liberated William V. Whitta, on a charge of bookmaking. We learn now that this was a misstatement of the facts, due, of course, to a misconception. There are two Whitta's, father and son. The son, A. V. Whitta, was convicted of keeping a gaming house, and sentenced to three months' imprisonment. It was that sentence that Cabinet nullified on grounds which have not been disclosed. The father, William V. Whitf/a, was convicted of bookmaking. He appealed again-st the jury's fmditfci on a point of law, and that appeal it was that was dismissed. Whitta senior will now come before a judge for sentence.
