ALLEGED TOTE FORGERY.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. A young man, Robeyt Fox, appear'd before the Court, charged with having forged three totalisator tickets it Trentham on January 24. According to the. evidence, accused, at the conclusion of the seventh; race, tendered at the pay-out window, three £6 totalisator tickets on the winner. The clerk thought the tickets not genuine, and asked the man to wait while he. consulted his superior offi•or. The tickets pronounced forgeries, but when he returned the man had disappeared. The tickets themselves were genuine, but the number had been erased and the number of the winner substituted. Accused, who was subsequently arrested on the Riccarton racecourse, was identified by ho man who had stood behind him n the race when the accused presented the allegedly forged tickets. Accused pleaded not guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. , Bail was granted £IOO and surety for £SO.
