BOXING.
"KID" HARRIS V. GEORGE CURRAN. The fight between "Kid" Harris, ex-fly-weight champion of England, and George Curran, the doughty New Zealander, which will take place at the Opera House on Tuesday, February 22, under the auspices of the Manawatu Boxing Association, is causing a great deal more interest than any fight that has ever taken place here. Numerous applications have been made already for seat's, which the association' has been unable to satisfy owing to the fact that the box plan is not yet open. Curran supporters say that the mule Is not yet born which can kick as hard as as quickly as George can hit. "Kid" Harris's fans say that he will blind George with science, and the truth lies half way between both those assertions. It is likely that the. fight will go the full fifteen rounds; certainly patrons will get their money's worth. Owing 'to the Kid's great capacity for coaching, and his unfailing interest in his pupils, O'Keefe is a far more effective fighter than of yore. McGregor, the Wellington watersiders' champion, has been finally selected to clash with him on the eventful night, and the go should be willing in the extreme. "Snowy" Ihle, of Palmerston, will keep Pierce, of Wanganui, interested; Renner will smite Bowe, Ireland Gray, and little Fletcher the" diminutive Curran.
