SWIMMING.
HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS. The High School swimming sports were held yesterday in the school battik. Most of the heats in the various races had been swum off the previous day and the finals , were completed yesterday. This year brought forth some very promising swimmers, especially among the junior boys, and as the handicapping was carefully done, some very good finishes resulted. The senior championship was won by W. Eyre, the only competitor. The junior championship produced good competition, but K. Pacey the winner, outclassed the other boys and incidentally established three new junior records over 26, 50 and 100 yards. He was presented with a medal by Mr H. E. Bennett for this fine performance. There was a good number of visitors present and the races were watched with keen interest. Messrs Anderson and Col-iu-hoiin acted as judges, Mr Thompson as starter, and Mr H. E. Bennett as time-keeper and judge of diving. Results were afe under: — 12 Yards Learners’ Race.—Cox 1, Carter 2. CLERE CUP RACE. At the Municipal Baths last evening the Palmerston North Swimming Club held two heats of the fourth race in the Clere Cup competition (133 1-3 yards). Results were as follow: —First heat: Leeder (7sec) 1. Eyre (4sec) 2. Second heat; Sollitt (scr) 1, Smith (lOsec) 2. The final will be swum off on Monday. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN.
