Tho Department of Agriculture has received the following telegram, dated 29th ultimo, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — "Meat.—Market quiet. Trade notified that application need not be limited to two ounces ration basis. Irish in better demand at £ll/10/ to £ls/10/- per cwt (2/7 to 2/9 per lb). Danish, market is depressed. Purchases for United Kingdom continue to be made' at falling prices. "Cheese. —Market quiet and steady. English, finest farmers', £8 to £9 pei cwt (1/5 to 1/7 per lb), and there is fair demand for cheaper quality. Canadian, moderate demand at last rates (viz., £7/16/- to £7/18/- per cwt) (approximately 1/43 per lb) for white; and £7/18- to £8 per cwt (approximately 1/5 ber lb) for coloured. New Zealand, Tainui shipment, is good quality, and will meet good market when available. Best coloured, spot, has been sold for £8 per cwt (1/5 per lb); white, £7/16/- per cwt (1/43 per lb). "Hemp.—Manila market is inactive, and prices are again lowef. 'J' grade, January-M#rch shipment, sold £53 per ton. Present quotations are: Oc-tober-December to January-March shipments, £52 per ton; February-Ap-ril shipment, £52 per ton. New Zealand idle. High points and fair afloat have been sold for £SO/10/- per ton. Present quotations are: Sellers, high points, spot, £53 per ton; fair, £sl per ton. "Wool. —This week's free sales fully attended, and the few New Zealand crossbreds on offer were disposed of at about 10 per cent to 20 per cent, below December prices for similar Government wool, say, BJd to 1/4 per lb."
