LIGHTEN OUR DARKNESS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, it was with unsurpassed joy that I read in your issue of to-day that the Borough Council was talcing steps to emerge from, daikness to light I have no hesitation in saying that for. its size. Palmerston North “takes the bun” in being behind the times. Almost any little town on the' Now South Wales side has its electric scheme. iVIy experience of this side is of brief duration, but nevertheless sad. My home is supposed to have gas laid on, but the result is this. Light one gas and it is fairly good, but as soon as you light a second it is necessary to light a candle also to find where the gas-light has gone to. I have interviewed the Gas Company on five occasions, and had four promises, and there it ended. Meanwhile, can anvone lend me a kerosene lamp . I am etc-, C. MURCHISON.
