BUYING WOOL.

Lord Forster and Lord Derby, when negotiating on behalf of Britain in the wool transactions, offered 45 per cent, above pre-war profits, but Mr Fisher and Mr Massey insisted on Eventually Lord Derby irately exclaimed: "if we cannot have the wool at our price sve can withhold the ships and prevent you marketing." This caused an impasse. Finally Lord Forster said, "Let us give •"•■'..*' and Lord Derby said, "Then we are able to have our dinner and perhaps earn a reputation as patriots for strengthening the bonds of Empire."
