BONUSES MEAN MORE TAXATION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Last Night. Mr Massey has made a statement about the cost of the bonus to be granted to public servants. He says that it is estimated that the Treasury will have to provide about a million. Officers’ Association. Dunedin branch, held last night, the following resolutions wore carried unanimously: (1) That the executive committee be asked to demand immediate payment of the bonus, and that the members who were absent with the Expeditionary Force be included. (2) That this meeting expresses discontent with the present scale of salaries, and asks that an allround increased remuneration be granted immediately, in order to cope with the increasing and alarming disparity between the present day salaries and their purchasing power. (3) That £240 be accepted as a basic living wage for a married officer of the Department.
