PROVIDING FOR VETERANS
(Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, East night. At a meeting of’ the Patriotic Fund Committee, correspondence between the Eady Eiverpool Fund Committee and the Minister of Internal Affairs was read relative to the disposal of £4OOO out of a surplus of the Liverpool fund to be invested in the Canterbury Patriotic Fund Trustees to accumulate with compound interest lor the purpose of establishing the nucleus of a fund lor the foundation of a home for the disabled soldiers of the Canterbury military area. The Eady Eiverpool Fund Committea-con-sidered it might be some years before such a home was needed, but it was the earnest wish of the committee that some provision other than that through the charitable aid channels and pensions should be made for the future care ot men handicapped through the effects ol war service. The Minister advised that it was quite in order for the Eiverpool Fund to hand the money over to the patriotic fund with the suggestion that the sum bo earmarked for a veterans’ home, the balance of surplus to be employed for the general relief of soldiers and their dependants. The Patriotic Fund accepted the offer and appointed a committee to consult with the donors as to details.
