Few men in New Zealand have had the opportunity of so many years of continuous practice. They have been associated with some of the foremost eye specialists of England. The inefficient optician makes many grave mistakes in undertaking repair work. Eye weakness certainly gets worse, and, like a stone rolling down hill, it gets worse faster and faster. There are many thousands of spectacle wearers who foolishly put off wearing glasses as long as they could— -thought they were doing what was right, but who after a few days of wearing their proper correction and discovering the immense relief and comfort obtainable, admit their foolishness, and are sorry they did not have glasses long before. Persons with weak eyes and some who were never conscious of any defect in their sight are enabled by a careful adjustment of glasses to see in a manner they never before thought possible. Others who were compelled to abandon their chosen calling on account of their sight are sent by a skilled optician back to work with eyes practically as good, and, in some cases better, than ever. Even cross eyes (Heterotopia), sore eyes, and affections of the lids can be relieved, and in most cases cured, with glasses.
