BAND CONTEST.
KAIivORAI WINS QUICKSTEP.
(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Last Night
The oand contests concluded on Saturday, ideal weather prevailed for the Quickstep Championship, over 20,000 being present at the Caledonian Grounds. The takings exceeded £BOO, and the financial success of the contest is assured.
Military Display and Quickstep: First prize £SO, second prize £2 5, third prize £lO, fourth prize £5. — Kaikorai, 2GS points, 1; Woolston and Wanganui, 2G5 marks each, 2. The band of the 2nd South Canterbury Regiment, 259 marks, was next. Other competitors: Invercargill Hibernian, 2 55J, Palmerston North 249|, 9th Hawke's Bay 241, 10th Regimental, Blenheim, 236 S, Auckland City 235, St. Kilda 233, 12th Nelson and M iiiborough 22 9, Waterside Workers, Wellington, 229, Ist Canterbury Regimental 227 i, Dominion Band, Invercargill, 227, Dannevirke Municipal 224 i, Lyttelton Marine 221J, Winton Municipal JOGi, Christchurch Tramway 191. B. Fiat Cornet Championship Solo was won by B. Wills (Invercargill Hibernian) with 4C, H. Fox (Woolston) was next with 44, W. H. Osborne (Bth South Canterbury) was third with 40. The recalls: S. Williams (Woolston) 30, J. McGrath (Wanganui Garrison) 32, M. K. Mara (2nd South Canterbury) 28.
