A POPIXAR FIXTURE.
It will be noticed by the advertisement in our issue that the Taikorea Sports Club are again out with a veryattractive programme for their annual meeting - to be held on Wednesday next. This club started operations last year, when the sports were held for patriotic purposes. On that occasion the meeting prpved such, a successful function that it has been decided to make it an annual fixture. Reference to the"' prize list will convince sports that this club, though young, is out to make a name for Itself and. judging by the prizes offered, they are certain to make good. Included in the programme there are events for ponies, trotters, maiden and open hunters, all carrying substantial cash prizes. The chief item is, of course, the open hunters' competition, which event carries a leg for the handsome "Nathan Cup," for which there is sure to be a great go. Then ncain those who fancy their ponies, Mr J. Hill's Cup wants an owner for 1 2 months.
One of the attractions of Bush Week in Sydney were the .shop windows filled withcut-outs from Beaver Board, grouped in tiers similar to stage scenery. On their suitable surface landscape artists depicted bush and farming scenery so true to nature that city dwellers were attracted in multitudes, especially at night, when the illumination added animation t» the cut-outs.* L
