AN IMPUDENT TRICK THE REVEREND R. S. GRAY EXPOSED. Speaking in Dunedin on December Ist, the Reverend E. S. Gray said: —“Another way they could get it (i.e., State Control was by not paying any compensation at all. They could vote prohibition this time, give it a trial for three years, and then, if prohibition was a failure, and the country wanted State Control, they could have another vote.” Apart from the palpable dishonesty of this proposal, it is a suggestion of a political trickster. This reverend Pussyfooter of a prohibitionist knows there is no such thing as “A THREE YEARS’ TRIAL” of prohibition. The Licensing Act specially states that in the event of prohibition being carried “no licensing poll shall at any time thereafter be taken in any district.” (See section 64 Licensing Amendment Act, 1918). Prohibitionists always mislead the people. Theirs is a dirty game of political trickstering, their object being to foment, strife, classhatred, and ill-will in the community. Some reverend gentlemen like to engage in this sort of degrading party warfare, but they are doing their churches great harm. A DIRTY GAME. BANGOR MINISTER ON POLITICS. (“Manchester Guardian-” August 25th, 1919.) The Rev. J. C. Morrice, of Bangor, in a sermon yesterday, said he hoped the church would never again allow themselves to be dragged at the chariot -wheels of any political party. Let them leave the dirty game of politics to those who liked to play it. It was not for the Church to soil her hands with such a game. It was hers to sweeten the national life. What are the Rev. R. S. Gray and the Rev. John Dawson doing? They have abandoned their churches,, and the cause of “sweet reasonableness” for what the Rev. J. C. Morrice calls “the dirty game” of politics as exhibited by prohibition, and are misleading the people. That is their game. They can fool some of the people all the time, but not all the people all the time. Electors should not be misled by those reverend gentlemen. They should assert their independence and individual rights by voting for Continuance—striking out the two bottom lines on election day.

This is How lo Vote. (1) I VOTE FOR NATIONAL CONTINUANCE (2) I VOTE AND-CGN¥RQIr 43) — *
