“THE COUNTRY GIRL.”
The Palmerston North Operatic Society registered another success at the Opera House last, evening, when “The Country Girl” was again staged before a large and appreciative audience. The performance has improved steadily since the opening night, and last night ■was put through in good lime ( with an absence of waiting between acts which generally characterises amateur performances. Encores wore frequent throughout the piece, and all the chief lady performers wore presented with bouquets and chocolates. Ballets, catchy choruses, local hits, and good scenic ' effects, combine to produce a bright and enjoyable entertainment. Contrary to rumour, the production will not be staged again next week, and to-night will be the last opportunity patrons will, have of seeing tne piece, so that a bumper house is expected.
