NOTES. Sportsmen will be pleased to hear that the Manawatu Racing Club have again made arrangements for special trains to run right on to the course at, Awapuni on Wednesday and Thursday next. Trains will leave Palmerston for the course at 10.35, 11.3, and 11.15 a.m. on both days. For the return journey to Palmerston North, trains will leave the racecourse at 5.10, 5.30 and 6 p.m., the 6.35 a.m. Paekakariki-Palmerston North train will run right to the course. The usual 5.10 p.m. train —Palmerston North-Wellington—will run via racecourse, where it leaves at 5.45 p.m, and arrives at Wellington at 10.44 p.m. The usual 4.22 p.m. Palmerston North to Wanganui train will be delayed to leave Palmerston North at 5.40 p.m., the last connecting train for this train loaves the racecourse at 5.10 p.m. A passenger train will leave Palmerston North for Foilding at 6.55 p.m. The 7 p.m. train—Marton to Taihape—will be delayed at Marton to connect with a train leaving Palmerston North at 5.40 p.m. The Poxton train will bo delayed to leave Palmerston North at 6.15 p.m. The up and down Wellington and New Plymouth express will stop o,t Awapuni to pick up and put down passengers. Tho 4.45 Palmerston NorthDannevirke train will be delayed to leave Palmerston at 5.45 p.m. From the above it will bo seen that racegoers have been fairy well treated in connection with travelling facilities on race days. Racegoers arc requested lo note that tho first race each day at Awapuni starts at 11.30 a.m. The races will also be started promptly to time to enable the last race to Pc started. in time to give visitors a chance of catching their trains. The finish between Sasanof and Spanner is reported to have boon one of the best ever .seen on the Trcntham racecourse, and it was only Gray’s superb horsemanship which enabled that groat horse Sasanof to gain a victory on the post. A good slice of prize money came Palmerston North way on Thursday, Warplane and Ermine getting a first and third place for Air J. Goruig-John-ston, Pup a mii a second for Air Rasmussen, and Demos a third for Air Hurley. Acceptances for the Wellington second day are good, and should tho weather hold fine there should be some interesting racing. Tho Second Hurdles, of one and a half miles, looks as if Yankee Jack and Papanui should again fight it oat. Tho TTutt Handicap, one mile, should be fought out between) Robokah, Buttle Array and Alatatua. The Aluiitnl Handicap, seven furlongs, has a useful team engaged, of which The Speaker, Aland rake and Consultation look well in. There is a big field of moderates in the Autumn Handicap, one m’le and three furlongs. On recent running. Alaster Aloutoa 7.13, Taiamai 7.13 and Kilrush 7.12 must, be close tip at tho finish. I The Suburban Handicap, six furlongs, will be a hard race to pick. Demos 17.10, Spanner 0.2 and Simonides 7.4 are j well treated and must run very 'veil. The Pacific Handicap, six fm longs, should provide a good race be I ween Amythas, Red Pepper and ALmhiku. j The Treniham.
