AGAIN THE TRAMS!

In his address to the electors on Wednesday night the Mayor-elect said that he wanted to see the tramways established in Palmerston before he went out of office. He hoped things would be satisfactory when the plans came out in June, and that they would be able to go on with the project. In the meantime, Mr Nash has apparently no proposal to offer for the accommodation of the public in regard to transit. Our impression is that it will be found that when tenders are called for the 5J miles of track which it is proposed to lay down at the expense of the -nhole of the ratepayers on the pretence of serving the populace, it will be found that it will bo impossible to do the work for the money voted. But even if such is not the case, it will be three years and a-half before the overhead system over this partial route will be available. What is the public to do during the interval?
