RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL REUNION.
The annual reunion of the Returned Soldiers' Association took place last evening in the Empire Hall. About 120 members of the association word present, together with Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., and several other honorary members. In the course of the evening speeches were made touching on tho significance of the occasion and dealing with matters of interest to the returned men. A tribute of respect was paid to fallen comrades at the opening of the proceedings, members standing in. silence. The president of the association (Mr B. J. Jacobs) presided. The following toasts were honoured: "The King," proposed by the chairman; "The Army and Navy," proposed by the chairman and responded to by Major Garner; "The R.5.A.," proposed by Col. McDonald, and responded to by Mr H. M. Haycock; "The Patriotic Society," proposed by Mr Weeks, and responded to by Messrs Nash and Pringle; " The "Veterans and Honorary Members," proposed by Mr McAviaue, and responded to by Mr A. E. Bennett; "The Nursing Service," proposed by Mr Spear, and responded to by Mr Mansfield; "The Press," proposed by Mr Haycock. The following programme was contributed: Monologue, Mr Mansfield; songs, Messrs Houston, A. E. Bennett, Jacobs and Luke. The accompaniments were played by Mr K. Laurenson.
