Two local anglers made a fine catch of trout yesterday, which will be on view at Bunting's Studios to-day up till 10 a.m. The catch included seven trout, the largest of which weighed (51bs and the smallest 2*4lbs. Anglers interested should make a point of seeing the catch which is the finest seen locally for some years. Mr Holland, M.P.. stated at his meeting last evening that the Union Company had built up its fleet from profits derived by the monopoly. The business had been offered to the N.Z. The Wellington Motor Corps comprise a considerable number of. energetic lady motorists who have proved themselves very reliable members, no doubt due to the fact that in most cases they have spare time to devote to this Corps, it is, therefore, to be hoped that what lady motorists are interested in our local Corps will attend the meeting or advise Mr Pees of their willingness to join.

The demand for education reforms throughout Now Zealand has become very insistent, and the populace of this district are being asked by advertisement on page 1, to do their part by attending the public meeting to be held at the Opera House on Monday, November 4th, under the auspices of the Manawatti School Committees' Association. There is no doubt some of the schools are working under very great difficulties to the detriment of the future of the children and our future citizens. Mr J, A. Nash, the president, of the Association, will preside, and all who possibly can are asked to make a point of attending. The law of supply and demand was commented on by Mr Holland last night when lie instanced having introduced a deputation of butchers to Hon. G. W. Kussell on the West Coast of the South Island recently. They pointed out that owing to the existenceoovaf v a meat ring the local butchers found a difficulty in purchasing at all and were sometimes paying as much as la per lb for mutton. Hon. Russell had replied that the law of supply and demand could not he interfered with. In comparison with this, Hon Fraser, the Minister for Public "Works, had written to a local body there pointing out that if they paid their -workmen more than lis per day he would have to withdraw their subsidy!
