TELL-TALE DOCUMENTS. [Anst. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Friday 11.50 p.m.) Reuter’s correspondent with the French array writing on the 16th October says: That the German appeal for an armistice was due to military necessity is made possible by captured documents showing that the Germans since the 15th July have lost a third ot their guus on the west front and Q quarter of their entire artillery. They are also gravely short of horses. Afore over the'difficulty of their strategic position is due to the break up ot the vast, railway system by the general advance of the Allies. Their lateral railways arc cut by gunfire, and when the two main lines to Hirson and Aleziercs come within range,, the retreat or the German forces between the. Oise and the Aisne -will be cut off ii any of them are left.
