There was a large attendance of members and friends present at the annual White Ribbon Social held in St. Andrew's schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The president, Mrs Crabb, presided. Mrs Cobb conducted the opening exercises. The following ladies provided the programme: Airs Henderson, song,- Aliss Bennett,, song; Aliss Ferguson, song; Airs Withers, recitation. Airs Hill (secretary) read a letter from the area council asking for assistance from the union members in the forthcoming which, was responded to by a number of those present handi*g in their names as workers. The president introduced the speaker, Mrs Perryman, of Port •'Vialmers, and editor of the “White Ribbon," whose inspiring address was listened to with close attention. The speaker Urged the members to do everything in their power to make the forthcoming campaign a victorious one and also gave ar interesting account of the growth of the union magazine. Airs Kenrick moved, and Airs Whitehead seconded, a vote of thanks to the speaker. A number of new subscribers to the "‘White Ribbon" wore obtained and a record collection in aid of the journal was taken up. Afternoon tea was then served, and the meeting was closed by Airs Perryman reading the initiatory service, when three now members were added to the roll.
