1 ‘ TRANSGRESSION. ’» Hal Pago (Webster Campbell), brother of Stephen (Earle Williams), the Mayor, becomes infatuated of Caroline Shrcfton (Billie Billings), an adventuress. Her lover (Denton Vane), mad with jealousy, threatens his life. He struggles with the woman, with the result that his pistol explodes and kills him. Hal takes the blame and leaves the country. A year later, Stephen has become engaged to Marion Hayward (Corinne Griffith), daughter of the district attorney (Edward Davis). The latter plans to prosecute Jim Reedo (Jack Ellis), corrupt politician, now the husband of Caroline. She threatens the Mayor with his brother’s conviction unless he puts a stop to proceedings. Considering his duty first ho allows the attorney to proceed. The reappearance of Hal, his tolling of the manner in which the death occurred, and the breaking down of Caroline’s defence ends the picture. A fight in the cabaret is one of the big scenes in this sensational drama. A Keystone comedy, the latest Graphic, and a scenic picture will be shown. KOSY. ETHEL CLAYTON IN “SOULS ADRIFT.” Ambrose Raybourne (Frank de Vernon), a millionaire, takes a party of friends on a yachting trip. There is much carousing. Elma Raybourne (Ethel Clayton), daughter of the millionaire, is not in sympathy with the manner in which her father and his guests are conducting themselves. Mabberly Todd (John Davidson) toasts Elma as his future wife. She is annoyed and goes on deck. Micah Steele (Milton Sills), second engineer, happens on deck. He saves Elma from the drunken insults of Todd. There is an explosion. Micah gets Elma and tw r o natives into a lifeboat. They arc tossed about for days. The natives, crazed by thirst, drown themselves. Elma and Steele are cast on a deserted island. Steele, who is a mechanical engineer and inventor, had been ruined by Elma’s father. Elma feared him. He tolls her the reason why he is revengeful. They spend many days on the island. Elma shuns Steele. He saves her from an attack by a pirate. Because of the wrongs her father had done him and because of his kindnesses toward her, she forgets the fear and they come to a better understanding. A Topical Budget and a two-reel comedy, “Boarders and Bombs,” will also be shown.
