AN ATTACK WHICH FAILED. [Aust. and N.Z. Cable _Association.] (Received Sunday, 7.22 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 15. Sir Douglas Haig reports local fighting south-east of Polygoon Wood. Before dawn tho enemy attacked our positions in the neighbourhood of Polderhoek Chateau. They were repulsed except at one point, where they entered our front trench on a front of about 300 yards. Tho enemy’s artillery is very active, A later message announces that we have regained a considerable portion of the trench.
