SYDNEY STRIKE.
A HOPELESS OUTLOOK. [Aust and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Sunday, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Last Night. The strike is gradually developing towards a general dislocation of traffic. The unions' Defence Committee has declared all coal for rail and tram services "black." This will possibly cause a complete stoppage. The locomotive drivers, firemen, and cleaners have decided in favour of a strike. Other organisations are heatedly debating the situation. The stopping of the trains is affecting outside industries. Several South Coast mines are idle. No trains ran this morning. There was a very limited service for a few hours this afternoon. The Government refuses to listen to the men's proposals until they decide to return to work.
