SECOND DIVISION.
TRYING OUT CAMPS WANTED.
[Per Press Association.]
CHRISTCHUECH, Last Night
The committee of the Canterbury Industrial Association passed the following motion to-night: "That in the ,event of the first ballot for the Second Division being taken within the next three months it is imperative in fairness to the men belonging to this division, and to prevent as far as possible, the dislocation of business, and to minimise industrial disorganisation, that local or trying out camps should be established so that no man should be obliged to give up business or his situation until he is absolutely sure that when sent to Trentham he will not be "turned down'' as medically unfit, and that the position be placed before the Efficiency Board with a request that the Board go into the mutter and recommend accordingly."
AUCKLAND RESOLUTIONS.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Second Division League formed to-night resolved to urge the immediate need for a revision of the scale of allowances, pay and pensions so that the dependents of soldiers present and future may not have to appeal to patriotic charity for assistance, which should be provided by the State; also urging facilities for the immediate medical examination of classes A and B, and expressing the opinion that reservists should not be graded by private or semi-official persons, but that all ballots should be taken under the present system and exemptions other than for physical unfitness granted only by a Military Court of Appeal; and further, regretting that there was no Government recognition of dependents other than wives and children.
