(Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received Wednesday, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 19.

Mr J. I. Macpherson in the House of Commons protested against a member describing field punishment No. 1 as the " crucifixion." _ Practically all the generals were agreed that it oould not be abolished. Sir Douglas Haig believed that its abolition wo-ald lead to an increase in the death penalty.
