Attempted Suicide.

YOUNG MAN CUTS HIS OWN

THROAT.

Karl Pcisson, a flax hand about 30 years of age, attempted to commit suicide on Saturday night by cutting his throat. A young man named John Porrin discovered PeTsson lying under a fence near the corner of Rangitikei Line and Boundary Road at about 5.50. The indications were that Persson had cut his throat in a nearby shanty where there was a large pool of blood, and had wandered, out towards the road.

Mr Pen-in immediately communicated with the police and Dr. Greig and Constable Grant were quickly on the scene. Dr. Greig ordered Ftfrsson 's immediate removal to the Hospital, where he lies in a very precarious condition.

There was nothing in the unfortunate young man's possession to give any reason for committing the act. He is particularly sober in his habits, and a bank slip found in his pocket showed that he had deposited £l7 in the Savings Bank on August 16. Ho has been a member of the Palmerstou North Municipal Band for some time, and was employed at the Poplar flaxmills. He is a Swede by birth, and came to the Dominion about four years ago.
