FRIENDLY SOCIETIES CONCERT

The annual smoke concert held in conjunction with the presentation of the Friendly Societies' euchre tourney was held in the Oddfellows' Hall last evening. There was a good attendance and the various Orders were well represented. The President of the Council, Bro. J. Gleeson, was in the chair. The following was the toast list: —The King, the Chairman;: United Friendly Societies, proposed by Bro. C. S. Rush, and responded to by the President, and Bros. Harris, Norris, Marshall, Rolfe, Franklin and Watson; The Allies and Absent Brothers, proposed by the Chairman; The Winners (Druids A), proposed by BroJ. A. Nash, responded to bv Bro EPycroft, senr., captain of the team; Friendly Societies' Council, proposed by Bro"Rimmel, responded to by Bto. Gleeson; The Mayor, proposed by Bro. C. Dahl, junr., and responded to by his Worship the Mayor; The Ladies, proposed by Bro. F. Rolfe, and responded to by Bros. Hampton and Wrigit; The ' Club Shield Winners (M.U., 1.0.0. F.), proposed by the Chairman, and responded to by Bro. L. G. Horn; The Donors of Prizes, proposed by Bro. S. Wright, and responded to by Bros. Watt and Williams; Dispensary Board, proposed by Bro. F. Pycroft, senr., and responded to by Bros. S. J. Watson and A. Levy; The Press, proposed by Bro. A. Levy, and responded Jto by representatives. Musical items were rendered by Messrs Hanlev, Tabor, Laerty, Addlington, Fabling, Mr W. Lnxmore at the piano. I Bro. D. Coleh (H.A.8.C.5.), winner of two years highest aggregate, was presented with Bro. H. Watt s special prize, a very fine model of a Defiance bicycle. Bro. F. Pycroft's team. Cutlet Cup. A and B teams back room competition. Rosen Cup, best six games in back room, Bro. J. D. Smith, 1914, (Druids). Best score back room (Druids): Bro. A. Weston 1, Bro. W. Hollier 2. Bro. J. A. Nash ? s special prizes (Druids): Bro. J. D. Smith 1, Bros. S. Franklin and C. Melville (dead heat) 2. Westland Shield donated by Bro. D. D. Williams (M.U., 1.0.0. F.), erib tourney: M.U., 1.0.0.
