OFFICERS NOT INFORMED
A war correspondent, discussing i* a London paper on August .16 the war news supplied to the German Army, says even the officers know little ot what is going on. In the railway station at Rheims a Prussian lieutenant was having a wound in his shoulder bound up. He said to the surgeon, "Whatever made France attack us? How can she stand all plone against Germany and Austria?" "Alone? Did not you know that Belgium is holding you back in the nnth?"
Pooh! We took Liege without an/ trouble.
"You think so? And what about England?"
"England? She will ne\er budge.''
"Just wait a moment," said the surgeon. He ran to the bookstall, bought several newspaper?, and thrust them into the German's carriage. Ihe officer glanced at them, first disdainfully, then gravely. When he had finished, "If they are keeping thing? like that from us we are done for," he said.
