A Communique timed midnight says there is nothing fresh to report except that a flag has been captured near Lassigny. The general operations of the day were satisfactory.

A lieutenant in the Guards writes: '' The Germans have a dodge for keeping us awake. They drive cattle to graze in the danger zones to alarm the jumpy. The sentries managed to entice three bullocks into our lines, making it a red letter day for fresh roast beef. My shirt has been washed for the first time since I left England."
A NURSE'S STORY.
A nurse describes being whisked to various parts of the front and having no time to change her clothes. She carries a blanket, mackintosh, comb and sponge, and has acquired the habit of sleeping in the mackintosh instead of a nightdress.
GERMANS DRIVEN BACK THIRTEEN MILES.

The Daily Mail's Pari3 correspondent says there was a desperate battle on Friday northwards and a brilliant success, the Germans being driven back thirteen miles, losing twelve thousand killed or wounded. The Allies' cavalry were greatly hampered by miles of hop gardens.
A GENERAL ADVANCE PENDING.

A Press Bureau communication says the French headquarters mentions a lull in the operations on our immediate front pending a general advance. At Arras the Germans are well supplied with artillery, which was particularly violent on Tuesday and Wednesday, but they had no success. The only place they gained ground was at Roye, where their gains were not worth a tithe of the cost in men and material.SCENES OF DESTRUCTION. The towns on the battle line are now scenes of black destruction. Arrah is wrecked, and All >rt non-exis-tent, and Douai half burnt down.
