At the Christian Endeavour Convention in Bloomsbury Rev. Howard James said the movement had to pass through three stages: the pooh-pooh, the bow-wow and the hoar-hear. It was just emerging from the second. The movement had been charged with creating a cleavage, in the church, but how could they prevent ardent youth and cautious age drifting apart?
