SIR IAN HAMILTON.
PLEASED WITH WELLINGTON CADETS. Tress Association.—By Telegraph. WELLINGTON, May 24. General Sir lan Hamilton on Saturday inspected .1200 cadets and about 70 rifle club members at Newtown Park. The weather was gloriously fine though the ground was very sodden after three weeks' almost ceaseless rain. In spite of the slippery ground, however, the cadets acquitted themselves very creditably, and the mann past was executed in good style. Afterwards the cadets gave a brief exhibition of physical drill. Before, their dispersal Sir lan Hamilton addressed the parade, congratulating the boys on the good -work done, which was as good as he had seen anywhere. "It is splendid,'' he said, "to think that the work which you boys are l doing will keep New Zealand safe for at least a generation." Finally the General presented the Challenge Cups. About 7000 or 8000 people "witnessed the review, and frequently applauded the cadets.
Sir lan Hamilton and General Godley left by special train for Featherston this afternoon.
