GANG PLANK BREAKS

TWO PEOPLE DROWNED AND THREE MISSING. By Electric Telegraph.—Press Association —Copyright. Received 5.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Mry 23. Twenty persons were crossing the gang plank of the steamer Frederick VIII. when the plank broke and men, women and children were precipitated into the Hudson river. Two were drowned and three are missing. One man failing to rescue his friends and child was temporarily insane. The accident was due to overcrowding. As the last whistle was blown the shote visitors rushed off and belated steerage passengers rushed aboard and the weight was too great. Members of the crew dived into the water attempting to effect rescues but the tide carrhd off the bodies.
