A SAD FATALITY.

INVERCaIJGILL, April 1. «, A lead accident happened a short Miistfifcice from '"Browns, resulting in the death of Alexander Stuart Patt&fton, a farm labourer, 28 years of : a£e, who leaves a widow aud family. <i£e was mimis his left hand and was oa his brother's farm at Springhills. He left home at 6.30 a.m. for Browts, about four miles away, riding a horse he had just purchased. On the return journey he was accompanied foy Robert Ross, and T>n arriving the latter and deceased rode to a house to obtain matches, Ross remaining at the gate to close it after Patterson left. After waiting for about a quarter of an hour Ross went inside and found deceased lying on his back on the ground unconscious and the horse a short distance away. He was removed to the horase and Dr. 'Gow was called in, but deceased remained unconscious until death. He 'had had no drink at Browns and was perfectly sober when returning home. The cause of death was a fractured skull.
