FEDERAL LIGHTHOUSE ACT.

ADDITIONAL BURDEN ON SHIPPING. By Electric Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Received 8.15 p.m. MELBOURNE, March 31. When the Lighthouse Act is proclaimed regulations will be issued imposing Federal lighthouse dues upon shipping. This means an additional burden of £200,000 per annum as the State Governments refuse to give up the light and harbour dues they now charge. Mr Cook says it is unfortunate, but coastal lighting must pay.
