Bates reports:— ' Summary.—A low pressure area passed southward of New Zealand early jhfo morning and on Monday evening a thunderstorm was experienced about Fovea ux Strait. Rainfall has been reported in several parts of the country and strong west to southwest winds have prevailed. '* Forecast. —Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds with a southerly tendency for a short time; changeable weather with scattered showers, the barometer rising temporarily everywhere soon.
