A Sydney cable reports the,death of Mr D. J. Napier, a well-known property owner in Dunedin. Sir Hartmann Just, a distinguished official of the Colonial Office, has arrived at Adelaide. He intends visiting New Zealand. Melbourne reports the death of Mr John Darling at the age of 62. Ho was known as the "Wheat King of Australia," and was a brother of Mr J. Darling, the famous cricketer.

Mr Hiley, General Manager of Railways, will visit Palmerston on Thursday for the purpose of meeting the Borough Council and the Chamber of Commerce to consider various matters connected with ra'way station improvements.

Corporal Graham was a member of tha old 65th Regiment, and was present at Orakau. Captaiii Preece saw service later in the war. Private T. Ellis, also a member of the 65th Rsgiment, accompanied Captain Preece and Corporal Graham.
