BENTON NOT SHOT.

BUT STABBED. NEW YORK, yesterday. British Consul Percival reports that investigation disclosed that Mr Benton's death was not due to pistol shots. Mr Percival does not state the exact cause of death but it is believed he wishes to infer that Mr Benton died of stab wounds. Mr Benton appeared before General Villa unarmed.

AMERICAN TROOPS HAVE BRUSH WITH REBELS. NEW YORK, yesterday. A message from Eagle Pass, Texas, states that American soldiers had a brush with a number of Mexican Federal troops across the Rio Grande above Del Rio. One American was injured. The Federals retired and their loss is unknown.
